ArtWranglers discovered we liked more big sculptures encountered in California than we have for a long time… They do it well, as you’d expect, at the Cantor Museum at Stanford. Two recent Oldenburgs (b. 1929, so he’s doing well) in a courtyard by themselves, and with no competition, and as you see, its hugely effective. Takes curatorial confidence not to overload such spaces. Unfortunately there’s a football crowd of Rodins in another courtyard-like space outside, just to prove our point. And a splendid snake-like Andy Goldsworthy, as you see… In every other sense it felt like Australia…
