ArtWranglers also provides expertise in provision of appropriate art storage, display, framing and transport as well as advice on how to maintain the integrity of both physical and intellectual elements of artwork for its life and beyond. Such advisory services are also provided to artists and can be integrated
Collection data management and control
ArtWranglers offers expertise in the design, establishment, and maintenance of fine arts databases to suit the individual needs of clients. ArtWranglers advises and develops protocols for the collection and maintenance of provenance for individual artwork and collections.
The collection and management of documentation maintains and adds value to an artwork or collection for the purposes of insurance, valuation, superannuation arrangements, estate management and resale into the secondary market and ultimately in understanding an artist’s oeuvre now and into the future.
Condition Reporting
ArtWranglers provides a range of condition reporting from simple format to thorough reporting for clients, wall-to-wall if required.
Condition Reporting cannot be underestimated in pre-empting issues that arise for artwork that requires travel, storage and display. It can be a valuable tool prior to or at the time of acquisition and purchase, travel and display.
Provenance
Artwork that has been in the secondary market often has gaps in its provenance or very little provenance has been collected over its lifetime.
ArtWranglers provides expertise in filling in the gaps, where possible, to enhance the value of artwork prior to resale, for curatorial purposes and authentication. ArtWranglers can provide advice for clients as to what details should be collected at time of acquisition and purchase that suits their requirements.
Significance Statements and Valuation
ArtWranglers provides Statements of Significance for an individual artwork or collections. ArtWranglers accesses a network of art historians and registered art valuers in different fields whose expertise can be drawn in the development of a Significance Statement and valuations
Significance is another tool to enhance the value of an artwork or collection. It is a statement by which artwork can be contextualised and understood in its specific and broader cultural context. It is tool by which artwork will continue to be displayed with the artist’s intent in mind and where decisions on appropriate storage, display and conservation can be applied. It is a useful tool by which individual clients or larger organisations can promote or discuss their artwork or collection.
Conservation/Scientific Services
ArtWranglers arranges conservation of art material through reference to a network of independent conservators in Canberra, either in situ or at external laboratories on behalf of clients.
Where appropriate ArtWranglers can arrange for scientific analysis of art material, this will generally occur by or in collaboration with a conservator.
Art Authentication
ArtWranglers provides clients with detailed reporting as to the authentication of artwork owned by the client.
Art Authentication requires the combination of all the services outlined above, in particular, Condition Reporting, Provenance, Valuation and Significance Statements, Conservation/Scientific Services.
Transportation and display of fragile and significant artwork
ArtWranglers provides a specialised service for the transport of fragile, significant, and/or high value artwork across the Canberra region, wall-to-wall if required. This service ensures the safe travel of artwork requiring extreme care and consideration at each stage of demount, transport and to display, storage or other facilities.
