Two Canberra ecowarriors, teacher Nick Mayo and conservator Sarah Clayton have built their autonomous house so that they can live independently of water and power services in the heart of Canberra. Their house, in Duffy Street Ainslie, is a delight to the eye and the intellect. By contrast to our earlier post, Crimes Against Nature, these snaps demonstrate that exposed services (water, electricity, heat traps, and bio-cleansing of waste water) can be integrated into a design to enhance both visual and functional effects. Look carefully at the second and fourth window, and you’ll see a glazed brick wall. Cozy in winter! The reedbeds are just getting going, careful what goes down the sink Nick and Sarah! Now ArtWranglers is searching for a similar design solution to apartment living in this part of the world. Your recommendations please…
