Biography
Rachel Jessie-Rae O’Connor was born in 1981 in Melbourne. In 2002 she graduated from the ANU School of Art - and was awarded a University Medal for her achievements in her Honours year. Since then she has returned to Melbourne to live and work. She has held seven solo exhibitions and participated in a number of group exhibitions including The Shining Path- a collection of artists curated by Neon Parc, Carlton Hotel and Studios, Melbourne. These studies and activities have led to a number of scholarships and awards, including the Peter and Lena Karmel Anniversary Award in 2003 and the 2005 Melbourne City Council Young Artist Grant (2005). She is represented in the Ergas Collection, the NECG collection Canberra, the Spanish Embassy and various private collections in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and New Zealand. She also writes occasional articles for Art Monthly Australia and has conducted community drawing projects in urban and rural Victoria.
